Art & Justice tours of the Constitutional Court Art Collection

Monthly Art & Justice tours of the Constitutional Court Art Collection are presented by members of the curatorial team on the last Saturday of every month, from 09:30 to 11:00.

Artworks on show in the public gallery are explored, whilst tour goers are also treated with rare access to some private areas and gardens of the Court – showcasing more of the art and perspectives on the renowned collection and architecture of the Constitutional Court.

A maximum of 10 people can be accommodated on each tour. Bookings are essential.

The tours are presented free of charge, although online donations to the CCAC endowment fund are encouraged and appreciated.

The tour commences at the main entrance of the Constitutional Court at 1 Hospital Street, Constitution Hill, Braamfontein. Underground parking is available at the Constitution Hill precinct at a cost of R30 per vehicle. The Court is generally wheelchair friendly, although persons with disabilities are kindly requested to reach out beforehand.

Please direct all bookings requests to or phone +27 (0)11 359 7577 for queries.

Tours of Constitution Hill can be booked through visiting their website.

“[Our] students were taken on a behind-the-scenes curatorial tour of the Constitutional Court, which preserves the ‘architecture of brutality’ and, at the same time, aspires towards South Africa’s rebuilding on a stronger democratic foundation through adaptive reuse. They were able to develop a greater understanding of identity politics, social justice, and human rights through art."

Dr. Pearlie Rose S. Baluyut (Art Department, SUNY Oneonta), facilitated by Dr. Alison Kearney (Art Criticism and Human Geography, WITS)

“ is the most vibrant collection I have seen in any courthouse in the world.”
